Mária completed her Master degree in Economic Statistics at the Economics University in Bratislava, where she also pursued her doctoral studies, focusing on the application of multivariate statistical methods, and received her PhD degree. Mária also successfully completed a 4-month course in multivariate analysis at the Instituto Superior de Ciencias in Trabalho e da Empresa in Lisbon.
Mária currently works as Senior Lecturer and researcher at the University of Economics, Faculty of Business Informatics in Bratislava. Her professional interests include the application of multivariate statistical methods using statistical package including SAS, Statgraphics and others. Her research focuses on the following areas: application of multicriterial evaluation in various areas of socio-economic life, finding hidden relationships with dimension reduction methods (the method of principal components, factor analysis), segmentation and clustering of similar objects characterized by certain properties, determining the discriminant function as a way to distinguish between established groups and classification of new objects.
Mária lectures the subjects of Multivariate Statistical Methods and Statistics. She has published extensively in the above mentioned areas, co-authored two monographs (Statistical Analytical System, Analysis of the determinants of regional disparities in Slovakia) and seven textbooks, including “Multivariate Statistical Methods with Applications” and “Statistical Methods for Economists”.
