Ivana Studená pursues professional activities building both on economic research work and on experience from individual business assignments.
She holds a Ph.D. in Economics from the University of the State of New York and CERGE-EI in Prague and a M.Sc. in Computer science from Faculty of Electro-engineering at Slovak Technical University.
Ivana is currently working in Slovakia as a business development director in a family company facing the challenges of a local manufacturing company. Previously, she worked as a senior policy analyst for the OECD LEED Trento Centre for Local Development based in Italy. She was responsible for activities on evaluation of local development strategies and on design of assessment tools for local development with focus on Central and East European countries. Her business experience started by work with large Czech corporate companies in an international financial corporation in Prague. She worked for years on a full and part time basis for the Economics Institute (EI) of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic. She studied labour markets development, firm level labour adjustments, and covered specific topics on transition economies.
Ivana is fluent in English and French and she has working knowledge of Italian, German and Russian. She has recently co-translated Daniel Pennac’s novel Chagrin d’École into Slovak.
