Dr. Harm J.A. Biemans is Associate Professor at the Education and Competence Studies group of Wageningen University in the Netherlands. He studied educational psychology at Tilburg University and did his (Cum Laude) PhD research on prior knowledge activation and self-regulation at Radboud University Nijmegen.
Since 1986, he has carried out and supervised many research projects in different domains, such as learning and instruction, educational design and evaluation, learning in organizations, entrepreneurship, and ICT. The focus of the research programme currently under his supervision is on competence development in schools and organizations.
He is a senior fellow of two research schools - the Interuniversity Centre for Educational Sciences (ICO) and the Wageningen School of Social Sciences (WASS). Over the years, Harm has published many articles in international, peer-reviewed scientific journals, as well as chapters in books for scientific and professional target groups. Moreover, he is co-supervisor of several PhD candidates and is involved in the acquisition of new research programmes and projects. As a teacher, he participates in the Minor Education programme of Wageningen University.
